The Person Who Makes the Stuff.

Joie Bauman (pronounced like Joey) is a charmingly stupid, scatterbrained, 20-something freelance whatever from Central New Jersey. To be honest, she’s not quite sure what to label herself, but she has produced quite a bit of work.

In regards to her writing, Joie favors poetry; however, she also dabbles in creative nonfiction and prose. When working as a photographer, she most enjoys portraiture and analog work.

Joie began experimenting with both writing and photography early on in her teen years. She quickly fell in love with the unique ways in which both mediums allow her to share her voice with the world. Joie has always felt a strong pull towards the arts and their ability to facilitate interpersonal connection and evoke emotion. Much of her work is confessional as she often draws upon personal experience, chiefly, her ongoing struggle with mental illness and trauma. Joie continues to produce content, not only for herself, but in the hopes that her work may resonate with others.

When she is not creating, you can find Joie working in the mental health field, coaching gymnastics, partaking in various athletic activities, or napping with her dog son and chinchilla daughter. Her work has appeared in a bunch of cool publications including High Shelf Press, Cathexis, and Door Is A Jar.
